Weekly Masonic Reflection: April 15th 2026.

Message from the President of the Society of Light. “Masons who walk in unity shall never stumble.”
Dear Brethren, in a world of polarized disagreements created by intentional misinformation, irrational contention becomes normal behavior. All of our politicians, most of our religious leaders, and the media have succeeded in destroying our civic and decent dialogue. To insult, condemn, malign or vilify anyone who does not agree with us is not only accepted but glorified. Yet anger never persuades, hostility builds no one, and contention never leads to inspired solutions. Even among those entrusted with Masonry and with leading others by example we see this toxic behavior, of those who belittle others, of those who use angry outbursts to control others, and of those who reduce Masonry, from a “Way of life” to simply, a social fraternity.

Each of us made a personal commitment with the Grand Architect to be known by how compassionately we treat others, especially when we have differences of opinion. True Masons build, lift, and inspire, not matter how difficult the situation. Contention reinforces the false notion that confrontation is the way to resolve differences; but it never is. Contention is a choice. So is acting as a Mason. I urge you to live by your given word of spreading the Masonic brotherly love by your words and actions. How we treat each other really matters! How we speak to and about others really matters. Those who choose to foster contention must know that “No man can serve two masters.” We cannot imitate the prevalent behavior and think that we can still be true Masons.

Differences of opinion are a part of life. Cast off the rough ashlar, which is selfish, defensive, prideful, and jealous. When we humble ourselves before God and pray with all the energy of our hearts, God will grant us this kind of love, which is void of envy, which is not caught up in their own importance, that is not easily provoked and do not think evil of others. As you demonstrate the brotherly love that true Masons manifest, the Lord will magnify your efforts beyond your loftiest imagination. The Masonic net is the largest net in the world. God has invited all to come unto Him, “black and white, bond and free, high and low.” There is room for everyone. However, there is no room for prejudice, condemnation, or contention of any kind. the best is yet to come for those who spend their lives building up others.

Fraternally, signed in spirit and truth.
